چکیده

ABSTRACT: Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can increase the acquisition of silicon (Si) and, therefore, alleviate problems caused by metallic toxicity in plants, but this effect remains poorly understood. The objective was to evaluate influence Si application on growth Leucaena leucocephala inoculated with AMF (Claroideoglomus etunicatum) a soil contaminated manganese (Mn). We exposed plants increasing levels (0, 100, 200 and 400 mg kg-1) for 90 days. Intermediate inoculation significantly increased shoot root dry mass, number sheets, system length colonization. abundance spores decreased linearly applied soil, suggesting low correlation In addition higher Mn contents shoots mainly, roots, combined reduced foliar more than 40%, when compared absence inoculation. Our results demonstrated synergistic improving tolerance L. Mn. Keywords: heavy metals; stress; remediation; AMF; toxicity. Aplicação de silício e inoculação micorriza promove crescimento em solo altamente contaminado por manganês RESUMO: Os fungos micorrízicos arbusculares (FMA) podem aumentar aquisição e, portanto, amenizar os problemas causados ??pela toxidez metálica nas plantas, mas esse efeito ainda é pouco conhecido. O objetivo foi avaliar influência da aplicação no inoculada com FMA Expusemos as plantas níveis crescentes dias. Níveis intermediários aumentaram significativamente massa seca parte aérea radicular, o número folhas, comprimento do sistema radicular colonização micorrízica. A abundância esporos diminuiu linearmente aumento dos aplicados ao solo, sugerindo uma baixa correlação Além maiores teores na principalmente, raízes, combinada reduziu mais quando comparada à ausência FMA. Nossos resultados demonstraram um sinérgico melhoria tolerância Palavras-chave: metais pesados; estresse; remediação; FMA;

Leaf-closing substance in Leucaena leucocephala.

Potassium (2R,3R)-2,3,4-trihydroxy-2-methylbutanoate (1) was identified as a leaf-closing substance in the nyctinastic plant, Leucaena leucocephala. Compound 1 showed strong leaf-closing activity toward L. leucocephala and was not effective against other nyctinastic plants. The potassium ion was indispensable for the bioactivity of 1. Compound 1 gradually lost its bioactivity because of the exc...

Leucaena leucocephala and adjacent native limestone forest habitats contrast in soil properties on Tinian Island

An ex situ germplasm collection of the endangered Cycas micronesica was established in a transition zone between biodiverse native forest and mature stands of the invasive species Leucaena leucocephala. Soil chemical properties were determined for the 2 tree cover types to inform management decisions. Total carbon, total nitrogen, calcium, and net ammonification were greater in native forest co...

Transcriptome Analysis of Leucaena leucocephala and Identification of Highly Expressed Genes in Roots and Shoots

Leucaena leucocephala (leucaena) is a fast-growing tree legume highly tolerant to various abiotic and biotic stresses. Because of its abilities to withstand high temperature and prolonged drought and to grow as a disease-free plant, it is an interesting model plant to investigate genetics of stress resistance. The high-level stress resistance may be correlated with higher expression of certain ...

Sinorhizobium morelense sp. nov., a Leucaena leucocephala-associated bacterium that is highly resistant to multiple antibiotics.

Sinorhizobium morelense sp. nov. is described to designate a group of bacteria isolated from root nodules of Leucaena leucocephala. S. morelense shows 98% 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity to some Sinorhizobium species and to Ensifer adhaerens. This novel species is distinguished from other Sinorhizobium species and from E. adhaerens by DNA-DNA hybridization, 165 rRNA gene restriction fragments...

Evaluation of the effects of mycorrhizal inoculation on Pb uptake and growth of alfalfa in Pb-contaminated soil

Establishment of arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis in plant roots can affect plant physiological and morphological characteristics and may induce tolerance to heavy metals in plants grown in polluted soils; therefore, it can play an important role in phytoremediation. In present study, to investigate the effect of mycorrhizae on alfalfa growth and Pb uptake, a factorial experiment was designed w...
